Ian Bowden – Memorial Page

When I first turned up at Richmond Makers Lab back in 2018, Ian made sure I felt welcomed and comfortable.

He assisted me to get me going with making my taiko drum stand by pointing me to the right people who could potentially help with my project.

Since that day I continued to go back even after I finished building the stand. I got to use the laser cutter too and Ian was always there making sure everyone was getting the support they needed. His presence there was very comforting and I think that it was his kind heart and soul pouring out him created that energy. I regret that I haven’t managed to visit the lab since the pandemic hit us.

Just wanted to write something to say huge thank you to Ian and I wish I knew more about him. Thank you Ian and I hope you enjoy the next part of your journey. Farewell until we meet again.

Ian has been a calm and steady support for me during my time as director and later Chair of Ham United Group. He has always cheered me on with a kind smile and, if pressed enough, a slice of his wisdom. He will be missed so much in our community in Ham.

Ian was an inspiration for me. He took over Richmond Makerlabs with love patience and wisdom. On the personal front I really enjoyed his stories from his days with music bands. His past life experience and current life experience was amazing as well, really inspiring how he looked after friends, family and helped complete strangers.

Thank you Ian. You will be missed.
