Dear Ian
Thank you for everything you did for us and for everyone.
Your kindness, generosity, patience and smile will be missed every day.
We hope your friends and family will stay in touch with ours.
Sleep well
Lots of love
Hannah and Chris
Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
Ian was always a friend with a smile, ready to be of assistance in times of need. I met Ian when I was at college with Janet almost 30 years ago and we had many laughs together over the years. I remember when they lived in Brentwood, before they moved to Ham, as my mother has a flat there and they really liked the area.
I am so glad that Ian found himself a lovely home there, near the river, where he joined many 'fix it, repair' groups and became a very useful member of his community, well done Ian, you will always be remembered and loved.

Ian was one of my wife Maureen's and my oldest friends.
He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone who needed it, as well as for his undoubted eccentricity. We are so sorry for his passing, the world has lost one of the good guys.
